Greg Powell
Senior Pastor
My life was filled with an enormous amount of abuse as early as I can remember and until I left home at 18 years old. My experiences led me down a dark path of suicidal attempts, alcohol and drug abuse. While in rehab I was handed a Bible and told to read Psalm 25. As I read I realized my sin and need for a Savior. That was July 11, 1992 the day I confessed my sin and asked Jesus into my life.
Today, I'm a husband to Sally Powell and a father to four girls, three boys, two step-sons and Pops to two grandsons and two granddaughters.
I've been involved in ministry since 1997 and full-time ministry since 2001. Most of my ministry experience is through Calvary Chapel, which has been a tremendous blessing in my life. I had the honor of beginning the prison ministry at Rocky Mountain Calvary in Colorado Springs and from there the Lord took my family and me to Germany where we planted a church and reached the homeless with the gospel of Christ.
In 2010 I began taking college courses to better serve the Lord in ministry. I earned a Bachelor's degree from Colorado Christian University in 2012 and continued my education, ultimately earning two Master's degrees in history from Regis University.
In 2020, by God's leading I began writing a course on the Biblical History of Israel. Today, I have the honor of teaching this material as a twelve-week course as well as teaching God's word to the wonderful people in the Trinidad, Colorado area at Calvary Fellowship.
